Add a promo item or a credited item to a Shopify order

This action allows you to add a promotional or credited item to a Shopify order. 

Please note, this is possible on both Ochre and Shopify. Depending on what your goal is (and the way you want the items credited), you may wish to complete the action in one place or the other.

Add a promo or credited item to a Shopify order - Shopify-side (at time of purchase):

Before using this route, you would need to ensure:

• The item you are crediting is listed in the Shopify catalogue; and
• The item credit will take place when the order is placed initially. For the time being, changes to orders on the Shopify side will not be reflected in Ochre.  

If the above are true, Shopify’s instructions for adding a ‘Buy X get Y’ discount can be used to apply the promo item to orders. When the orders are created, Ochre will ingest the orders as normal. 

Add a promo or credited item to a Shopify order - Ochre-side:

If for some reason the Shopify route is not applicable, the action can still be completed via Ochre. Please note - at this time, it is not possible to update the Shopify-side order with the credited item, or any information about the item (such as tracking information) - so the order data held in Shopify and Ochre will be different when this action is taken. 

Initially if you would like to set up rules to credit a certain item to an order, you will need to contact Ochre Operations and they will set up for you. Typically, the item will be added when another specific item is purchased - but if you want the promo to apply with different rules, Operations will be able to advise.
