Overview
This is a guide to help you through the process of setting up a Bandcamp store on Ochre.
Because Ochre does not provide direct customer support for Bandcamp orders, please ensure you have read and understood all of these points before you embark on selling goods via Bandcamp (or other third-party retail channels) via Ochre. You will need to monitor the emails you receive from Bandcamp and Ochre to stay informed of any service updates and changes.
We have published detailed guides on how to perform Bandcamp order management actions via Ochre, but if you have any questions beyond this, please email Ochre Operations (operations@ochre-platform.com) for assistance.
While we are handling your query, please don’t send us any customer data, just send links (not screengrabs or IDs please) to the relevant order or search query.
Initial Connection between Ochre and Bandcamp
Ochre makes use of Bandcamp’s concept of ‘Fulfilment Partner’ to connect your Bandcamp Stores to Ochre. This allows us to:
- Import and update Bandcamp catalogue into the Ochre-side Bandcamp store;
- Ingest Bandcamp orders into Ochre for management and fulfilment;
- Automatically mark Bandcamp orders as shipped
- Automatically update stock levels on Bandcamp, based on your chosen warehouses within Ochre.
The setup steps are as follows:
- (For new Bandcamp Stores) Create the Bandcamp store, and note the BC Store subdomain in the process;
- In Bandcamp, either define or update the Shipping Locations you wish to use for that Bandcamp Store. These are geographical locations which will then be matched up with warehouses configured on the Ochre side. This is done from the ‘Edit Profile’ page on the top-right of the Bandcamp admin page, under the ‘Physical Goods’ heading.
Please note, that as a Fulfilment Partner, only one Warehouse per Shipping Location (i.e. Country) can be used - this is a limitation on the Bandcamp side. If you plan on working with multiple fulfilment partners from a single Bandcamp store, we strongly recommend assigning each shipping location to a single fulfilment partner. This is because Bandcamp does not provide any means to allocate orders for a given country to one partner or the other - so there would be a risk of orders being fulfilled twice.
- Once Shipping Locations are defined, navigate to the ‘Orders’ page in the Bandcamp admin to set up Ochre as a fulfilment partner. This can be done by clicking ‘Manage’ in the right column, then inserting Ochre’s designated email address - integration-admin@ochre-platform.com - and then select the shipping locations you would like managed via Ochre.
- Ochre Operations can then create a new Ochre-side Bandcamp store for you. Before connecting it to your Bandcamp store, they will set up your desired fulfilment account and warehouses - this way, Ochre will be able to determine which Warehouses should be connected to each Bandcamp shipping location.
- Ochre will let you know when the connection to Bandcamp has been made successfully.
From here, a few further steps are required to complete your Bandcamp store setup:
- Initial catalogue import from Bandcamp into Ochre
- Add required metadata to Bandcamp catalogue within Ochre
- Initial order ingestion from Bandcamp into Ochre
Important to note: If for some reason you need to add or change shipping countries after initial store setup, please notify Ops so we can assist you.
Other useful information about our Bandcamp integration
Bandcamp Bundles
Initially, Bandcamp product bundles will not be supported - but we will be added shortly.
The reason for this is that Bandcamp bundles do not indicate which items are contained within the bundle, and are instead considered a separate item. Therefore, we will need to add the ability to map a Bandcamp bundle to the corresponding products within the bundle.
Once this feature is made live, we will notify you directly and provide instructions on how to set up bundles for Bandcamp.
Digital Products
For clarity - digital products sold by Bandcamp will still be fulfilled via Bandcamp.
Therefore, digital products will not be included in any orders ingested by Ochre, will not be represented in the Ochre-side Catalogue, and not included in Ochre-side reporting.
Postage
Currently, Bandcamp does not allow setting specific postage options, and Bandcamp postage prices are set per-item (and additional item). These prices are set by yourself, but please keep in mind your postage rate card with us when setting them up.
When Ochre ingests Bandcamp orders, a postage option will be automatically applied to the Order.
Initially, the cheapest applicable Postage option will be selected, but we intend to offer the option to set ‘Cheapest Tracked’ or ‘Cheapest Untracked’ business rules so you can configure each store to your liking.
When setting up your Bandcamp store, Ochre Operations will configure your postage options as requested. Typically, this will include all postage options available within a Fulfilment Account, but we can omit untracked Postage Options if you prefer not to use them.
Stock
After your Bandcamp store is set up successfully, stock from your Ochre warehouses will be connected to the products on your Bandcamp store.
It is very important to note that stock in each warehouse will be shared between all stores connected to that warehouse. For example, if one Bandcamp store and one Ochre store are connected to the same warehouse and a sale is made via Bandcamp, stock will decrement on both stores.
It is also important to note that stock will not decrement on Ochre until each Order is successfully ingested. This is why setting the additional metadata on Bandcamp products within Ochre is so important.
